Cookies Policy

Effective date: June 1, 2026
Last updated: 11 October 2026

1. Introduction

Estate Atlas uses cookies and similar tracking technologies (including pixels, beacons, and local storage) to operate and secure the Platform, understand how it is used, and support limited marketing.

This policy explains what these technologies are, how we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use related technologies such as pixels and local storage, which we refer to collectively as "cookies" in this policy. They let us remember your preferences (such as your currency), keep you securely logged in, load data-heavy visualizations efficiently, and understand and improve how the Platform performs.

Cookies may be set by us ("first-party") or by our service providers ("third-party").

3. The categories of cookies we use

A. Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the Platform to function and cannot be switched off. They handle:

  • Security: verifying your identity at login and preventing fraudulent access.
  • Payments: processing secure subscription transactions through our payment partner (Stripe).
  • Sessions and load balancing: keeping you logged in and the Platform stable during high-traffic periods.
  • Basic preferences: remembering choices such as your display currency or dark mode so the Platform works the way you expect.

Because the Platform will not work without these, they do not require consent and you cannot opt out of them through our banner.

B. Performance and analytics cookies

These help us understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. They are optional.

PostHog and Google Analytics load only after you accept the Analytics category. If you reject that category, or you have not chosen yet, neither tool loads and these cookies are not set. Session recording is not used.

PostHog runs on PostHog's US cloud (us.i.posthog.com). It records page views and the product events listed below. Email addresses and form details are removed from page addresses before a page view is sent. The PostHog cookie is named ph_<project>_posthog.

Google Analytics 4 is loaded through Google Tag Manager (container GTM-5C7ZZ676). It records page views and the same product events. Its cookies are named _ga and _ga_<id>.

The product events are: pricing viewed, plan selected, signup started, signup blocked, email confirmed, checkout started, checkout completed, country opened, lens opened, support chat opened, support ticket created, and analytics consent status.

A lens is a price, mortgage, rent, or house-price view. These events may include a plan name, whether billing is monthly or yearly, a coarse reason a signup was blocked, a country code, which lens you opened, a support-ticket category, or whether Analytics consent was accepted or rejected. They do not include your email address, name, form text, message body, or payment or customer identifiers.

C. Marketing and retargeting cookies

We use these, only with your consent, to make our advertising relevant to professional investors. For example, we may use pixels from LinkedIn and Google to show you ads for Estate Atlas features related to your recent activity.

Important: While we do not sell your personal information for money, the use of these advertising cookies may be treated as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California's CPRA and some other US state laws. You can opt out at any time through our cookie banner, by enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, or by contacting us.

4. Consent and managing your preferences

  • Cookie banner: When you first visit, you can "Accept all", "Reject all" non-essential cookies, or "Manage settings" to choose by category. Analytics and marketing cookies are not set until you accept that category. If you reject them, or you have not chosen yet, those tools do not load.
  • Withdraw or change consent: You can reopen the cookie settings at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in our footer to change or withdraw your choices.
  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): Where required, we treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out of "sharing" for targeted advertising.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) let you block or delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Platform working.

5. How long cookies last

Cookies are either "session" cookies, deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent" cookies, which remain for a set period or until you delete them. Retention periods vary by cookie and provider. The analytics cookie names are listed in section 3.

6. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our technology or applicable law. Check the "Last updated" date above for the latest version.
